Visit this URL:  http://englishplus.com/grammar/00000011.htm Why should we avoid run-on sentences?  In addition, discuss your thoughts on today's class activities (re:  classification continued, Doctors Have Their Symptoms, Too).

  1. We should avoid run-on sentences because it can often confuse your readers. An example would be: "I love cakes can you bake me one tomorrow?" There should be a period or semicolon in between "cake" and "can".

Today's class activity was helpful. I finally get the difference between a thesis and topic sentence.

  2. The reason why we should avoid run-on sentences is because it would not be formal. When we speak, one does not simply said "period" after his/her sentence. We speak continuously, but with necessary pauses and changes of tone. In writing, the structure must be precise and organized. Run-on sentences will not look appealing to read.

Today's activities in class served as a refresher for topic sentences, and also another good day for classification.

  3. By avoiding the use of run-on sentences, you are able to portray to your readers along with to other people that you are capable of forming complete sentences and/or thoughts. You are able to convey to your readers that you are an intelligent human being. Run-on sentences only confuse readers so it is best to avoid using it at any cost.

Although the activities conducted in today's instructional period were but just refreshers, I still had fun doing them. Any time spent with the class is a blissful moment! :D

  4. Run-on's should be avoided cause the readers will get confused and read it wrong. Speaking is different than talking so we need to put periods with each different sentence.
Today's was just merely refreshers but it helps because I kind of forgot about them.

The class activities for today was kind of helpful to us when writing a paragraph or an essay. the three stages really helps us organize our writing and makes it easier for us to write with organization of what we are going to say.

  7. Run-on sentences is one of my common mistakes on my paper. Mainly, because i usually write as i speak. In my years writing essays, I avoid a lot of combining sentences. I learned that it is better to separate the long sentence in to two parts.
In today's activity, it helped me refreshed my memories. It helped a lot because, I have a habit of not remembering.

  8. Run-On sentences should be avoided for they are how would you informal. And can or may confuse the readers. it might even mislead the readers. when speaking our tone changes so you would say the run-on hides behind a mask if you could put it like that. but when reading it for yourself you can notice it so it is important to avoid it. As for the reading we did in class, it was good and interesting as always it is great to study and learn newer things.
